Fear, Hope, Change...Motivation for the Proletariat

I would like to see people restrain themselves from using Armageddon-laced rhetoric when discussing (or even promoting) political and/or socioeconomic issues. People from all over the political spectrum have all demonstrated the ability to motivate and generate support for their point of view based on simple fear as opposed to complicated thinking. Until people shelve their arrogance and accept that emotional passion cannot be a lasting replacement for thoughtful rationality, they will rely on the ever-popular and ever-effective method of generating fear.

The Terrorists are not going to destroy us and the world will not be inhospitable for humans for a long, long time to come. I'm not trying to be too profound here (I'll save that for another day), but while it's fresh in my mind, I just wanted to throw it out there - elaboration to follow - that the world is in much better shape than those who politically "motivate" other people believe.

  1. It turns out a lot of the movie Religulous addresses many points of fear I planned on hitting. Fear of wars and the hope for future wars. A disgusting yet powerful motivator.
